Today we find ourselves in the “latter days”, a time which coordinates to Joshua 3 where the children of Israel enter into the Promised Land, taking cities and nations for the Lord. We find ourselves in a generation when the Body of Christ will fulfill the Great Commission given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations….” This commission is not just to disciple souls, but nations. In order to disciple nations, we must transform and become leaders in at least seven key areas (mountains or pillars) which are part of every society. They are: education, family, economy, government, media, worship (religion), celebration (arts & entertainment). Psalm 2:8 says “Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession.”
The soul of a nation can be referred to as a nation’s culture. History has proven that culture is defined and influenced by the music, art and literature of the era. The arts and entertainment of the historical period shape the atmosphere of a nation. Currently, we are living in an historical period in which the sexual revolution of the 1960’s significantly contributed to a culture of declining morality. We find ourselves immersed in a culture of self-centeredness, self-gratification and destruction. You may be asking yourself if our culture is able to be transformed into the antithesis of what we currently experience. If I were not a believer I would say “no, that is impossible!” However, I know that “with God, all things are possible.” (Matt. 19:26). With the gifts He has given and the power of the Holy Spirit, all the nations of the world can be transformed. But one question resounds…HOW? How do we transform America and other nations? We can transform cultures through the celebration mountain by focusing on Jesus and receiving His Kingdom strategies to transform current generations and raising up a generation that seeks to live their lives with Kingdom love, Kingdom purpose, Kingdom identity and Kingdom creativity. As the body of Christ, we must focus on training up a generation of artists, athletes, politicians, journalists, educators, ministers, soldiers, businessmen and women who possess integrity and moral character flowing from within their inner most being. Like Daniel we must understand and believe “…the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. And those of the people who understand shall instruct many…” (Daniel 11:32-33). Creativity is from God, the Creator Pastor Cinda Herring

And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. - Romans 8:28 AMP
The morning I heard four beautiful lives were taken and several others injured in the shooting at the Waffle House in Antioch I immediately fell to my knees and called on God to comfort the grieving families and victims. Psalm 34:18 says, “the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." We seek comfort in those words, for we know that God lives in the hearts of those who grieve. One of the great challenges we all face in the journey of life is handling setbacks, disappointments, hurt, disaster, tragedy, failure, mistakes, loss of a loved one, sickness, the list goes on. Some could wonder, can God use such things for something good? Is this our new normal, innocent children being shot in school, families killed in church and other similar trials and tragedies? Some may question, why does God allow these things to happen? The Word of God says in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” We must understand that all suffering is not our fault. There was once a man name Job who was blameless and upright, a man of such integrity that he was considered by God One day the angels[a] came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them. The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.” Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil (Job 1:6-8).” If anyone deserved blessings, Job did. Yet one day God puts him to the test. Job's life falls to pieces; calamity of every kind comes upon him. A gang of men from Sheba attacked and took his livestock and massacred his servants; a house collapses on his sons and daughters and kills them all. Disease strikes him, and he is covered with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. In all this, he submits patiently to God, only to be mocked by his wife, who tells him to "curse God and die!" Friends arrive, and still he is patient. For days they sit with him in silence, seeing how he suffers. Finally, Job cannot contain himself any longer and questioned God to give him an answer to why all this tragedy? God did not fully answer him. God instead spoke of His own power and His own presence. Job lost everything, yet he stayed close to God and the Lord restored Job’s prosperity and gave him twice as much as he had before (Job 42:10.) Imagine if Job had said, well! God if that's what you let happen in my life, I will no longer follow you. He would have missed out on unbelievable blessings. We do not know why God does not intervene and stop some tragedies, but what we do know, is that God stands against evil and violence. Just as God was with Job He is with us working all things out for our good. I love the excitement of Nashville, flooded with fans cheering for local teams such as the Predators, Vanderbilt Commodores and of course the Tennessee Titians. On April 4, 2018, passionate fans flooded lower Broadway for the unveiling of the Titans new uniforms. This came after celebrating Holy/ Passion week signifying the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Why is it that we can’t seem to muster up that type of passion for Jesus? My wife and I are huge sports fans she loves the Kentucky Wildcats and I love the Arkansas Razorbacks. You can find us at sporting events standing and cheering as if there is no tomorrow. This week reality set in for me, “what has that team ever done on my behalf, for my life, for my country?” Yet I will scream my lungs out; practically lose my voice by the end of the game, and for what- the love of the game? Please listen, I am not trying to make anyone feel bad about getting excited over their favorite team, because trust me I am still going to be that crazy looking fan painted up and dressed up in my team gear hollering and screaming for my team. I just want to talk with you about something on my heart. Why do we get so excited at sporting events, standing up and cheering like crazy people, yet we’re quiet and reserved in our Worship? If we can display passion for the love of the game why can’t we display passion for the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? The core of this message is simple, Passion, meaning strong and barely controllable emotion. Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” [c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. Spiritual Nugget: With all our Heart: Proverbs 4:23 tells us to “Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your life flows from it. Such as Love, Hate, Anger, Pride, Peace, Joy, Grief, Jealousy, and Unforgiveness. Everything in the natural and spiritual realm is connected to the heart. Therefore, without a properly functioning heart there is no healthy physical or spiritual life! With all your Soul: Matthew 16:26 says, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” Meaning the life of a person. With all your Mind: 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We break down every thought and proud thing that puts itself up against the wisdom of God. We take hold of every thought and make it obey Christ.” Our minds are our greatest battlefield. If we can conquer the mind’s doubts, prejudices, lusts and wrong thoughts we can grow in our passion for the Lord and love Him greatly!! Pastor Davis www.revdavis.com |
